Trigger and dial control with several bevel stops
Why it fits
- DCS334B suits DEWALT 20V MAX users wanting both a variable trigger and speed dial. Its brushless motor, LED, integrated blower and four-position cutting action provide the controls and visibility features. The bare package includes a blade; battery and charger are separate. The all-metal lever-action clamp accepts T-shank blades. The keyless shoe bevel has detents at 0°, 15° and 30°, with a positive stop at 45°. The manual specifies three orbital actions plus straight cutting, and directs users to avoid orbital action for hardwoods and metal. The no-mar shoe cover is documented, but the manual identifies the dust-extraction chute and shroud as optional accessories. They must be removed before beveling because the tool will not bevel with them attached. Plan that change of setup for angled curves and confirm the vacuum connection. [4] [5] [6]

Bosch JS470E
A corded top handle with separate dial and trigger
Why it fits
- JS470E suits a top-handle curve-cutting setup with a maximum-speed dial and accelerator trigger. The 7A, 120V corded saw has four orbital settings and Constant Response circuitry. Its soft-grip top handle is a different control layout from the barrel-grip Bosch. Bosch lists 500–3,100 no-load SPM and a 1-inch stroke. Its tool-free clamp takes T-shank blades and rejects U-shank, with a blade-ejection lever. The manual recommends a narrow or scroll blade for tight curves; the included blade is not identified as that specialist type. The switchable blower clears the line of sight. Its 45° maximum bevel setup uses the included wrench; a non-marring overshoe, anti-splinter insert, blade and case are included. JA1007 is the separately listed dust attachment. A blower and an extraction provision are distinct from a measured capture result. [10] [11] [12]

Choose the blade and controls for the curve
Blade fit comes first. Bosch’s selected saws accept T-shank and reject U-shank; SKIL’s manual accepts both common types. Bosch’s JS470 manual recommends a narrow or scroll blade for tight curves. Check the actual included blade rather than treating every wood blade as a specialist curve blade. [2] [11] [28]
Control layout changes the buying decision. Bosch JS572EBK uses a barrel grip and speed dial; JS470E uses a top handle with maximum-speed dial and accelerator trigger. DEWALT combines dial and trigger, while FLEX adds four presets plus Auto mode. Select the layout that lets you regulate motion comfortably in your intended setup. [1] [10] [4] [16]
Orbital settings need the exact manual, not a blanket rule for all woods. SKIL identifies setting 0 for curves and splinter-sensitive material. DEWALT’s DCS334 manual excludes hardwoods and metal from orbital action. Makita provides straight cutting as well as three orbital settings. Maximum speed alone does not establish how well a saw follows a pattern. [29] [5] [7]
Plan bevels, visibility and extraction together
For frequent bevel changes, the Bosch barrel-grip kit, DEWALT, Milwaukee, RIDGID, RYOBI and SKIL document tool-free adjustment. Bosch JS470E, Makita JV0600K and FLEX use a wrench. FLEX requires removing the splinter guard if fitted before bevel adjustment. DEWALT’s extraction accessories must come off before beveling; Milwaukee’s manual excludes the transparent cover and anti-splinter device from bevel cuts. [1] [5] [13] [20] [26] [30] [12] [23] [17] [6] [14]
A blower clears the viewing area; extraction needs its own connection. Bosch lists separate JA1012 and JA1007 attachments for these respective saws. Makita XVJ04 lists an attachment and dust cover separately, while Milwaukee and FLEX include extraction pieces. RIDGID identifies 1-1/4-inch and 1-7/8-inch hose compatibility. Confirm the complete coupling and accessory package. [3] [12] [9] [15] [18] [20]
Compare the complete power setup. Both Bosch picks, Makita JV0600K and SKIL are corded. The selected DEWALT, Makita XVJ04, Milwaukee, FLEX, RIDGID and RYOBI versions need separately purchased batteries and chargers. FLEX lists 5.1lb before its battery; Makita XVJ04’s page has conflicting weight figures. Check actual assembled handling rather than comparing unlike weight bases. How we compared.
Source-based comparison of official US maker pages and selected manuals read October 3, 2026. Pro Tool Reviews’ orbital-jigsaw explainer notes that aggressive orbital motion can complicate tight curves; that attributed editorial context informed our emphasis on controllable motion and visibility. It is one source, not owner consensus. Bosch’s barrel-grip kit leads for its double-roller guide, speed dial, blade ejection, lighting and tool-free bevel adjustment. Other picks favor trigger control, existing batteries or a corded setup. We have not tested curve accuracy, finish, dust capture, vibration or runtime. Features and specifications are manufacturer statements, and ranking is independent of commission.
