RIDGID SeeSnake microDRAIN APX
RIDGID SeeSnake microDRAIN APX
Small branch drains with tight bends
Why it fits
- microDRAIN APX leads for small branch-drain work: a 22 mm head and 65-foot high-flex push cable address a different task from a long mainline reel. RIDGID lists 1.25–3-inch pipe capacity and says it passes multiple 90° bends in most 1.5-inch drain lines; actual pipe conditions still govern passage. The 8.3 mm push cable has a specified 0.75-inch minimum bend radius. LEDs illuminate the view, a 512 Hz sonde supports locating with a separate receiver, and the manual rates the camera waterproof to 100 m. That is a camera depth rating, not permission to immerse the viewing equipment. Catalog 70023 is the reel, so budget for a compatible monitor. APX/TruSense features require a TruSense-enabled monitor such as CS6x Versa or CSx Via; the separately adapted CA-350 does not provide those enhanced features. The 65-foot cable trades maximum run length for a small-drain workflow. [1] [2] [3]

RIDGID SeeSnake Compact M40
RIDGID SeeSnake Compact M40
A compact reel with a recording monitor
Why it fits
- Compact M40 is the more general drain-run choice here: RIDGID specifies 131 feet of moderately stiff push cable for 1.5–8-inch lines. Select system 63813 to include the CS6x VERSA digital recording monitor, rather than assuming reel-only 63673 has a screen. The self-leveling 25 mm camera uses HDR imaging; TiltSense displays camera inclination on a compatible CSx monitor. Its 9.1 mm fiberglass push cable has a 3-inch minimum bend radius, so do not substitute microDRAIN’s tighter bend figure. A 512 Hz sonde and quick-release monitor dock support the inspection workflow. The manual states a 100 m camera depth rating. Whole-reel ingress ratings differ between the product page and linked manual; neither establishes monitor immersion protection. Confirm the supplied manual and keep viewing equipment dry. Choose this non-DSL model deliberately rather than merging specifications from the newer M40 DSL. [4] [5] [6]
Before you choose
- A larger cable bend radius makes this a different fit from the small-drain microDRAIN; check battery and charger contents separately. [4] [5] [6]

Milwaukee M18 120-foot Mid-Stiff Pipeline Inspection System
Milwaukee M18 120-foot Mid-Stiff Pipeline Inspection System
An M18 workflow with onboard recording storage
Why it fits
- Milwaukee 2973-22 suits buyers who want a drain reel tied to an M18 control hub. The maker specifies 2–6-inch lines, 120 feet of cable, a 25 mm self-leveling 1080p camera head and a 10 mm mid-stiff push cable. These are rated dimensions, not a promise to negotiate every fitting. The included 500 GB hub powers the reel and stores recordings. Photos and videos can be handled through a compatible mobile device or Milwaukee wireless monitor. The listed kit includes a tablet mount, two XC5.0 batteries and a rapid charger; a dedicated wireless monitor is not in its box list. The page lists 512 Hz/33 kHz sonde frequencies and 33/83 kHz line tracing, plus removable backpack straps. A locator is a separate part of the workflow. Confirm the camera-depth, cable and hub water limits in the supplied instructions; this comparison does not assign a whole-system immersion rating. [7] [8] [9]

Wöhler VIS 260
Wöhler VIS 260
A case-based small-drain kit with a removable rod
Why it fits
- VIS 260 suits small-drain work when a self-contained case is preferable to an open reel. Wöhler specifies a 1-inch fixed camera head, 100-foot rod and NPS 1.5–2.7-inch applications. The rod is removable for cleaning, while the monitor and reel have dedicated case compartments. A 7-inch TFT display shows distance, and photos or videos save to internal memory or USB. The US sheet specifies twelve white LEDs and IP68 for the miniature camera head. It does not give that rating to the monitor or establish an unrestricted submersion depth. Wöhler markets passage through multiple 90° bends, while its technical table says several 87° bends; treat this as a small-pipe design claim rather than assured trap passage. The head includes a transmitter, but the L 200 locator is optional. Its narrow stated pipe range is the main tradeoff against a larger-line reel. [10] [11] [12]

General Pipe Cleaners Gen-Eye POD with Wi-Fi
General Pipe Cleaners Gen-Eye POD with Wi-Fi
Larger drains with a 200-foot rod
Why it fits
- The full-size SL-GPW-E Gen-Eye POD targets 3–10-inch lines with 200 feet of Gel-Rod. Its self-leveling camera is 1.625 inches in diameter, and the large-reel push rod is 0.475 inches. This is the full-size POD, not the smaller MINI-POD sold from the same page. A 7-inch monitor sits on a gooseneck. Sixteen white LEDs have dimmer control, and Wi-Fi sends video to a smartphone or tablet for recording. AC and 12 V DC cords are included. The built-in 512 Hz transmitter needs a separate locator; the selected E package does not include the locator supplied in another bundle. The manual says to protect the POD from rain and wet locations and warns that corrosive drain chemicals can harm the camera and cable. Do not treat its in-pipe camera seals as whole-system waterproofing. The larger head and rod suit larger-line access rather than small sink traps. [13] [14] [15]

Forbest 3188SD+ 130-foot with 512 Hz transmitter
Forbest 3188SD+ 130-foot with 512 Hz transmitter
A dedicated drain kit with USB and SD recording
Why it fits
- Forbest’s selected 3188SD+ kit combines a dedicated reel and 7-inch display for 2–4-inch drains. The specification table gives a 23 mm detachable head, 130-foot fiberglass push rod and 5.2 mm rod diameter. Use those metric figures: adjacent marketing text rounds the dimensions inconsistently. The monitor records to USB or SD and includes a microphone for voice-over. Built-in camera LEDs, a screen visor and interchangeable skids support viewing. The selected SKU includes a 512 Hz sonde; a compatible locator remains separate. A meter counter is an upgrade, not assumed in this version. Forbest lists 2-, 3- and 4-inch P-trap use, but do not assume all fitting layouts will pass. Its site warning limits IP68 camera-head submersion to 6 feet. A waterproof-case description does not establish that an open monitor, connectors or charging equipment can be submerged. [16] [17] [18]

Hathorn H2 200-foot system
Hathorn H2 200-foot system
Live viewing when recording is unnecessary
Why it fits
- Hathorn H2 earns a place for a deliberately simple live-view workflow. Select H2-2143-SL: the H2 page lists a 1.43-inch self-leveling head, 200-foot half-inch rod, 3-inch minimum 90° elbow and up to 10-inch well-lit pipe. Those limits apply to this configuration, not every H2 head. The system has a 7-inch LCD, resettable footage counter and sonde control. It accepts compatible external 18 V batteries, including Milwaukee. Hathorn’s explanation of its product range explicitly says H2 has no recording or save function and no Wi-Fi option; move to a recording system if customer files are essential. The H2-linked datasheet describes LED lighting but labels its configuration rows H7, so the selected head and rod dimensions here come from the actual H2 page. Confirm the supplied configuration and environmental limits with the dealer; no whole-system immersion rating or assured full-length push is inferred. [19] [20] [21]

Teslong NTS300 Dual Lens
Teslong NTS300 Dual Lens
Front and side views close to an access opening
Why it fits
- Teslong NTS300 is the compact choice for front and side views where a long drain push rod is unnecessary. Select the 8.0 mm dual-lens, 16.4-foot version with its own 5-inch monitor. Its flexible probe is not a reel-mounted fiberglass drain rod, and no pipe-size or multi-bend guarantee is given. The technical panel specifies 854 × 480 screen pixels, 1920 × 1080 still capture and 1280 × 720 video recording. A 32 GB microSD card is included. Six front LEDs and one side LED are adjustable. Distinguishing display and recording resolutions is more useful than treating a headline megapixel figure as drain visibility. Teslong states IP67 under a maximum 1 m/30-minute condition. Keep the monitor and charging connections out of the drain, and follow the supplied instructions for which components may get wet. The short close-focus ranges and flexible probe favor accessible local checks over a complete sewer survey. [22] [23] [24]

DEPSTECH DS520 Triple Lens 50-foot
DEPSTECH DS520 Triple Lens 50-foot
Long semi-rigid cable with several viewing directions
Why it fits
- The selected DS520-TL-15M-8G is the 50-foot triple-lens version, not a shorter DS520 or dual-lens replacement cable. Its front and two side views, split-screen modes and 5-inch IPS display suit buyers who want several viewing directions on a standalone screen. DEPSTECH describes a semi-rigid cable and promotes a DIY fish-tape bundle to help extend it. That is a different feed method from a purpose-built fiberglass drain push reel; do not equate 50 feet of supplied cable with 50 feet of reliable travel around bends. The title specifies ten LEDs and an 8 GB TF card. The listing advertises IP67 but does not clearly separate monitor protection or supply the probe diameter and a drain-bend rating in its technical prose. Confirm those details before buying for a restricted opening or wet run. This is a conditional option for accessible routes, not the default sewer-inspection recommendation. [25] [26] [27]
Before you choose
- Probe diameter and component-specific water limits need confirmation; cable length alone is not proof of drain compatibility. [25] [26] [27]

RIDGID micro CA-350
RIDGID micro CA-350
Short-reach inspection with an upgrade path to a reel
Why it fits
- The micro CA-350 suits close inspection and documentation near an accessible opening. Its standard 17 mm head has a 3-foot cable and four adjustable LEDs; the display is 3.5 inches. Optional cable extensions and compatible small SeeSnake reels expand the workflow, but are separate purchases. It records 640 × 480 JPEG images and MP4 video; the listed kit includes an 8 GB SD card and supports cards up to 32 GB. The manual rates the standard imager and cable IP67/waterproof to 10 feet, while the handheld display must be protected from water and rain. The manual specifies approximately a 19 mm minimum access opening for the standard 17 mm head and a 5-inch minimum cable bend radius. Neither the bare head diameter nor an optional 30-foot extension establishes sink-trap passage. Reel compatibility also does not give CA-350 the APX/TruSense features of a compatible enhanced monitor. [28] [29] [30]

Match the route before counting cable feet
Start with the access opening, pipe diameter and bend layout. A 65-foot high-flex microDRAIN is aimed at small branch drains; a full-size 200-foot Gen-Eye POD targets larger lines. A flexible borescope cable belongs to a different workflow. Its supplied length does not establish that it will push through a drain for that distance. [1] [13] [22] [26]
For a one-off long or awkward route, compare buying with a professional inspection or rental from a supplier who can match the actual fittings. A camera view helps document what is visible; it does not establish that the whole system is clear or identify every cause of slow drainage. Confirm repair availability and the complete kit before purchase. [3] [9] [30]
Budget for viewing, recording and locating separately
A sonde transmits a locating signal; a compatible receiver is still required. microDRAIN 70023 is a reel, Milwaukee 2973-22 needs a compatible viewing device, and Gen-Eye POD recording uses a phone or tablet. Hathorn H2 is deliberately live-view only. Compare the full workflow rather than the camera-head price. [2] [3] [8] [9] [14] [20]
Keep camera protection separate from the screen and power equipment. Forbest limits camera-head submersion to 6 feet; CA-350 distinguishes its waterproof imager/cable from the display. Read the supplied manual before work, especially if drain chemicals, damaged cables or electrical hazards may be present. A water rating is not a chemical-resistance rating. [18] [29] [15]
How we compared.
Source-based comparison of manufacturer pages and selected manuals read October 22, 2026. A small r/Plumbing discussion includes differing experiences with push distance, monitors and repair support; it informed the buying checks, not a reliability ranking or owner consensus. The order prioritizes drain-specific push-rod systems, then compact cameras for accessible local checks. We have not tested image quality, bend passage or diagnostic accuracy. Ranking is independent of commission.

DEPSTECH describes a semi-rigid cable and promotes a DIY fish-tape bundle to help extend it. That is a different feed method from a purpose-built fiberglass drain push reel; do not equate 50 feet of supplied cable with 50 feet of reliable travel around bends. The title specifies ten LEDs and an 8 GB TF card.Checked October 22, 2026
- DEPSTECH DS520 Triple Lens 50-foot: The listing advertises IP67 but does not clearly separate monitor protection or supply the probe diameter and a drain-bend rating in its technical prose. Confirm those details before buying for a restricted opening or wet run. This is a conditional option for accessible routes, not the default sewer-inspection recommendation.
Exact selected US model/configuration. Listed pipe capacities and cable lengths are manufacturer specifications, not assured distance or bend passage. Camera/head protection differs from monitor, connectors and power equipment. No hands-on performance, diagnostic certainty or whole-system immersion claim is inferred.
