Metabo HPT CR36DA MultiVolt Kit
Metabo HPT CR36DA MultiVolt Kit
A battery kit with an optional AC power adapter
Why it fits
- CR36DA suits demolition work where one saw may move between battery power and a mains connection. The selected kit includes a 36V/18V MultiVolt battery, rapid charger, curved wood blade and bag. The ET36A AC adapter is a separate purchase. Metabo HPT lists a 1-1/4-inch stroke and 0–3,000 no-load SPM, with four speed modes whose stated selector range is 1,700–3,000 SPM. Straight and orbital modes, a variable trigger, tool-free blade changes and an adjustable shoe provide the cutting controls. The maker documents User Vibration Protection with dual counterweights. Listed length is 18 inches and tool-only weight 8.4lb; the included battery adds weight. Compare handling with the actual pack and plan material-specific blades beyond the included wood blade. Milwaukee M18 FUEL SAWZALL 2821-20
Milwaukee M18 FUEL SAWZALL 2821-20
Lever-actuated blade changes for existing M18 users
Why it fits
- 2821-20 suits buyers already using M18 batteries who want a lever-actuated QUIK-LOK blade clamp, adjustable shoe, LED and hanging hook. The selected tool-only box lists the saw; the battery and charger are separate. Milwaukee states a 1-1/4-inch stroke and 0–3,000 no-load SPM. Its manual accepts 1/2-inch universal-shank reciprocating blades and discusses wood, nail-embedded wood and metal applications. Select the actual blade for the material; one general blade does not cover every demolition task. Metal-reinforced battery rails and an anti-corrosion clamp are documented construction features. Selectable orbital action and a dedicated vibration-control mechanism were not established in the retained 2821 material; confirm if those decide the purchase. Check complete weight and two-handed balance with your chosen M18 pack. [7] [8] [9]

Makita XRJ05Z
Makita XRJ05Z
Two speed ranges with a fixed reinforced shoe
Why it fits
- XRJ05Z suits LXT users who want separate low and high speed ranges as well as a variable trigger. Makita lists a 1-1/4-inch stroke, 0–2,300 SPM low and 0–3,000 SPM high. Tool-free blade changes, LED and a retractable hook round out the setup. The saw uses Makita 18V LXT batteries with the Star symbol; battery and charger are separate. A 6-inch, 6TPI wood blade is included. Orbital settings are explicitly listed as absent, and the reinforced shoe is fixed, making this a distinct choice from the orbital, adjustable-shoe picks. Makita documents a refined crank mechanism intended to reduce vibration and blade deflection, plus a rubberized soft-grip handle. Length is 17-1/4 inches and listed weight 8.2lb with a battery, although the exact pack basis is not identified here. Confirm balance with the pack you will use. [10] [11] [12]

DEWALT DCS384B
DEWALT DCS384B
A counterbalance and lever clamp in the 20V MAX platform
Why it fits
- DCS384B suits a DEWALT 20V MAX setup where a lever-action keyless blade clamp and a documented counterbalance matter. The brushless saw has a variable trigger, pivoting shoe and LED. The selected B package includes the saw and a wood-cutting blade; battery and charger are separate. DEWALT specifies a 1-1/8-inch stroke and up to 3,000 no-load SPM. The TOOL CONNECT Chip-Ready system takes a separately purchased DCE042 chip. Budget the correct battery, charger and blades for the materials rather than relying on the included wood blade for every task. The maker describes the counterbalance as designed to limit vibration. Selectable orbital settings and assembled dimensions, weight and balance were not established here; confirm them before buying for a restricted work area. This is DCS384B, not the differently equipped DCS382B. [13] [14] [15]

Choose controls for the material
Orbital selection is a useful distinction when comparing these saws. Bosch, Metabo HPT, FLEX, RIDGID and SKIL document it; Makita explicitly lists no orbital setting. FLEX’s manual says to leave orbital cutting off for metal, and SKIL’s manual says not to use it with a metal-cutting blade. Check the instructions for the exact saw and material. [1] [5] [17] [19] [23] [11]
Stroke length and stated rate describe the motion, not a measured race between tools. Bosch and the two DEWALT picks list 1-1/8-inch strokes; Metabo HPT, Milwaukee, Makita, FLEX, RIDGID and RYOBI list 1-1/4 inches. Makita adds separate low/high ranges, while Metabo HPT has four speed modes. Match the controls to the work rather than ranking solely by maximum SPM. [2] [14] [26] [5] [8] [10] [17] [20] [29]
Blade-change design can matter as much as the headline stroke rate. Bosch provides spring ejection, Milwaukee a lever-actuated clamp, DEWALT DCS384B a lever-action clamp, and RIDGID a side lever. DWE305’s four clamp positions are a different benefit for flush-cut access. Bosch and FLEX include specified wood and metal blades; the wood-only inclusions on other kits need supplementing for different materials. [1] [2] [7] [13] [19] [25] [16] [24]
Compare the complete handling and power setup
Read vibration features as design information. Bosch documents a counterbalance, Metabo HPT dual counterweights, Makita a refined crank mechanism, DEWALT DCS384B a counterbalance, FLEX vibration suppression and SKIL a counterbalance gearbox. Those descriptions do not establish equal vibration levels or a measured exposure result. Check balance with the battery and blade actually fitted. [3] [6] [12] [15] [18] [24]
Weight figures need the same basis. Metabo HPT lists 8.4lb tool only and FLEX 7.4lb without a battery. Makita lists 8.2lb with a battery but the pack basis is not identified here. Bosch and SKIL page weights have an unclear battery basis. Confirm assembled weight rather than comparing every published number as though it described the same setup. [6] [18] [12] [3] [24]
FLEX, Metabo HPT and SKIL are selected as battery-and-charger kits. The other cordless picks require those separately. Metabo HPT’s ET36A adapter adds an optional mains connection, while DWE305 is a dedicated 120V corded purchase. Compare the full package, available charging and the working space for a cord before choosing a platform. [16] [4] [22] [2] [7] [11] [13] [19] [28] [25]
How we compared.
Source-based comparison of official US product pages and selected manuals read October 3, 2026. A focused reading of Pro Tool Reviews’ orbital-action explainer described its wood-cutting role and additional vibration; that attributed context informed our emphasis on selectable modes and documented control features. It is one editorial source, not owner consensus. Bosch leads for its combination of orbital selection, counterbalance, blade ejection and included wood-with-nails and metal blades; other picks emphasize power options, speed selection or an existing battery platform. We have not tested cutting speed, balance, vibration exposure, runtime or safety outcomes. Specifications and control features are manufacturer statements, and ranking is independent of commission.
